What’s recession proof and been around since moments after the invention of the camera? If you guessed porn, you’re absolutely correct. And over the course of the last 40 years, porn has made such an impact on everyone. From married couples to adolescents discovering for themselves what their parents were too scared to talk to them about, porn has become such a mainstream topic that porn starts like Jenna Jameson and Ron Jeremy are now household names. The only thing about porn that has been slightly unaddressed is the closet-case enjoyment that most women tend to have for the industry. Perhaps the social stigma has always been that porn was limited for men to enjoy for themselves. Well, as true as this may be, women are just as equally into it as guys. So often, it seems we over look these cues as to why girls might enjoy porn. Here are a few reasons why porn has a growing and sometimes silent audience.

The fact is, sex is ingrained in our DNA. It is a natural instinct  that is fueled by triggers like endorphins and subtle, yet specific exciting qualities that we consider to be ‘attractive.’ Too many times, men forget that women are just as human. To tie in this association between women and porn here, most women have been taught since an early age through media, movies, and society to be a delicate, reserved flower. Times have changed and women are owning their sexuality. Jennifer  (28yr old Hair Stylist) said, “I have needs like anyone else. Sex, to me, is so necessary to keep me in a good mood. As a single girl, porn is my substitute when I need sex and am not getting it.” Which is one solid reason why women do enjoy porn just as equally as men.

May I Have the Attention of the Class?

Sexual experience is gained through just that…experience. Though sleeping around isn’t exactly ideal for most women, so the next best thing is watching other people to see what it is they’re doing and how they’re doing it. As much as it’s very stereotypical, women do want to make their man happy. So porn for women can often be a tool to educate them on something they haven’t thought of to help add some excitement in the bedroom. I mean, sports teams watch film to help win games and we watch Food Network to get new dinner ideas…so what’s the difference? Sarah (29yr old Boutique owner) told me that, “I love my man. I’m willing to do anything to make him happy. He makes me the happiest girl in the world and if I can learn new ways to make him happy sexually through porn, I’ll study for it like a midterm (cute giggle afterwards).” Makes perfect sense in my opinion.

She’s So Hot

Girls appreciate beauty in other girls. Fact. When that girl they think is so hot can do her thing in such a manner that may seem quite explicit, but controlling of her own domain…the empowerment becomes an extremely sexy characteristic. Girls like Jenna Jameson have brought such a new light to the industry with her ability to own her rights and use her business skills to create her own brand. Most girls like the idea of not being the traditional component that porn usually portrays women as. Brandy (31yr old Lawyer) went on to say, “I love how some women in porn are so driven through their craft in conquering the business side of what they do. It’s inspiring. I don’t intend to break into the porn industry, but I can translate it to the rest of my life for sure.”

No One Loves You Like You

As I touched on in the beginning, women have needs just like men. This can certainly be a diligent topic that people in general consider taboo to talk about. But most women aren’t going to openly discuss the intimate details about how they enjoy their alone time to themselves. Though this is something that happens so often and becomes such a necessary part of a women’s life. Whether it’s making up for shortfalls in the bedroom or just general maintenance, porn is an easy shortcut for women to help them reach their desired point of satisfaction. Tina (30yr old Marketing Manager) discussed this a little with me and mentioned, “I really don’t know how to describe why I like porn. Maybe it’s because for a girl to masturbate, they have to really concentrate . It’s not like a guy, who can just do it quick and be done. Girls have to really think about it, or at least I do. Not only does porn give a mental picture to focus on, but it also get you horny or turned on. So it gives you inspiration to begin (masturbating).”

All in all, there’s no definite answer and there’s absolutely no universal feeling about why girls secretly love porn. Though it’s pretty much the exact same reason why guys love porn. The visual stimulation and the admiration for watching other people do what we typically all would prefer to be doing…getting laid. In the end, there’s a relative sense of sheer enjoyment with porn in almost any way, shape, or form. Just know that porn isn’t limited to male enjoyment. Women equally enjoy porn and sex just as much as men.
