The mission of every Infectious Awareables tie is to generate interest, discussion, even excitement about serious public health issues such as this silk Dental Plaque tie. Believing that humor can be a powerful educational tool, Infectious Awareables neckties take an atypical, slightly irreverent approach to some very serious subjects.

"Start the Conversation!"
We've updated the original, extra-oral design and colors to keep the Tooth Fairy a la mode! It's a safe bet that Dental Plaque never looked this good! Plaque is actually a complex biofilm composed of several dozen strains of bacteria.
Our design features coccoid cells clinging along side the thin pellicle layer covering the tooth enamel, along with the rods and 'chetes that make up the culture within a culture. A fashionable reminder to "brush only the ones you want to keep!"
A back-of-tie "Awareness Note" and a source citation are incorporated in the pattern design, which reads:
"DENTAL PLAQUE is a complex material composed of multiple types of microorganisms. Plaque forms a soft coating on tooth surfaces and is implicated in dental decay and gum disease. Prevention centers of meticulous hygiene and regular care."
IA contributes a portion of proceeds to the Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP) Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to safe, infection free dental care.
