October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, we try to do something that directly benefits breast cancer research, or the people that have been affected. We didn’t want to just carry products with a breast cancer ribbon and pass that off as contributing to “awareness.” Rather, we sought out to do something within our capacity that would directly help those that are in need of assistance while they fight cancer. Last year, we teamed up with Breast Cancer Angels (opens in new window), a local (Southern California) non-profit that gives 100% of proceeds directly to those in the local community that are battling breast cancer. BCA gives over $45,000 a MONTH to those in need. Impressed, awed, and overwhelmed by BCA’s determination to make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer, we teamed up with them yet again this year, and were able to not just double, but triple our donation thanks to our employees, our customers, and Debbie, the Executive Director at BCA that helped us make this happen.
The mission of Breast Cancer Angels is to provide financial and emotional assistance for women (and men!) and their families as they are going through breast cancer treatment. For more information about BCA and its mission, click here (opens in new window).
