Intern Spotlight prmo header

Our team is excited to be able to run an internship program at the Ties.com HQ that immerses students and young professionals in all of the behind-the-scenes activity of an eCommerce company. We consistently have exceptional, diverse, and creative interns who become part of our crazy family and teach us a thing or two along the way. In this Intern Spotlight, we are thrilled to introduce Rachel-Jean Firchau, our summer marketing intern.

Q&A:

What do you like about interning here?

“I really like this internship because you’re encouraged to think outside the box, as opposed to just doing tasks because you’re told to. We get the flexibility to add our own voice and our input into how we build the brands, whether that’s in our writing or in our shoot ideas. It challenges you to think creatively.”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

“Honestly in 5 years, I’d like to see myself taking a year off from working, getting on the Trans-Siberian Railway in Beijing, and spending 6 months traveling through China, Mongolia, Russia, and Western Europe. I know, it sounds crazy. But I just got back from study abroad and I’m already itching to go somewhere again. If that doesn’t happen in 5 years, then I see myself working in fashion or film, or even at a PR firm.”

How is this internship helping you get there?

“To China? Well, this internship is giving me the skills I need to build my career, and a strong career will pave the way both for my future and for the cash needed to get myself around the world!”

What is one thing you didn’t know before working here?

“I really didn’t know a lot about menswear before working here. This has really opened my eyes to that world.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“I like to practice yoga and dance salsa and bachata.”

One Fun Fact:

“I can’t stand foods that resemble what they looked like when they were alive. So, that means pretty much all shellfish and anything served on the bone will most likely creep me out.”
