Intern Spotlight promo header

Our team is excited to be able to run an internship program at the Ties.com HQ that immerses students and young professionals in all of the behind-the-scenes activity of an eCommerce company. We consistently have exceptional, diverse, and creative interns who become part of our crazy family and teach us a thing or two along the way. In this Intern Spotlight, we are thrilled to introduce Siya Rajan, our summer marketing intern.

Q&A:

What do you like about interning here?

“I love the flexibility and freedom that I am given. I am able to have  my voice heard while writing for The Style Canvas and The GentleManual about topics that I am interested in. Along with my social media responsibilities, I am also able to form new connections with other bloggers to help promote the brand, which in turn is enhancing my PR and marketing skills on a professional level.”

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

“In 5 years I would have completed my MBA and will hopefully be on my way with a career in Public Relations and writing. I love being a journalist, whether it be for a blog, newspaper or magazine, and I hope to see myself having multiple articles and stories published.”

How is this internship helping you get there?

“Writing for a professional blog for the first time has really helped me work on my writing skills and be able to adapt to a new tone – which is what being able to appeal to audiences through writing is all about. I think the freedom and flexibility helped me find what I was good at and what I should be focusing on to continue further in my career.”

What is one thing you didn’t know before working here?

“I would say that I definitely learned how to interact and collaborate with professional bloggers, something I had never done before.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“My free time is dedicated to traveling, reading, taking my dog for runs and writing for different magazines or publications when I can!”

One Fun Fact:

“I am known for my laugh. It’s very loud and unique. People can recognize me from far away based on my laugh alone.”
