The Los Angeles Clippers first came into existence as the Buffalo Braves in 1970. A California businessman, Irv Levin, wanted to own a team on the West Coast. Levin moved the Braves to San Diego, California. It was there that he renamed the team, and they became "The Clippers". The Clippers now call the STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles their home. Since making the transition to the STAPLES Center in the 1999-2000 season, the team has broken attendance records each year that they have played there.
